WordPress’s new AI-powered website builder is available now. Here’s what it does.
A new AI-powered site builder on WordPress

This Wednesday, April 9, 2025, in a press release published on its blog, WordPress unveiled its new AI-powered website creation tool. Its operation is designed to be as simple as possible, with a process based on natural language. In short, the user simply has to describe to the tool the site they want, and it is designed automatically. However, the platform warns that the site builder “is not yet ready to create e-commerce sites or sites requiring complex integrations.”
That’s the magic of our new AI website builder. It takes your instructions and instantly creates a fully designed, content-ready WordPress website, complete with text, layouts, and images, for you. It’s just you and your vision, and the AI takes care of the rest, WordPress enthuses.
While WordPress suggests you can try its new tool for free, you won’t be able to fully embrace it without subscribing to a paid plan. The free version gives you access to 30 prompts—enough to understand the tool’s value, but too limited for building a full site—and doesn’t allow you to exit and return to your creation interface.
WordPress: How to test the new AI site builder for free
If you’d like to explore the site builder, simply visit this page, log in, or create a free WordPress account, and then enter your request. WordPress recommends being “as specific as possible” by providing as much information as possible. After submitting our request, the builder doesn’t immediately begin designing; it asks for more information.

We then provide more details. We tell them the name of the salon and, since the number of prompts is limited, we take the opportunity to suggest information about colors and features. After a few exchanges, WordPress asks us to confirm the details so that we can proceed with creating the site.

The site was created in a few seconds, and the result is very promising. In spirit, the site resembles what we wanted, notably incorporating the requested dominant color. However, some sections have been modified: we wanted a portfolio, which is only partially present, while a review space (which had not been requested) is integrated. The contact form is also missing.

In a message at the bottom left, WordPress suggests we “choose the layout, color palette and font combination”. We then access some alternative suggestions for modifying our site.

The site then becomes fully editable: you can change the size of the images, replace them with your own, or add your own text. In the lower left space, you can once again chat with the AI to request adjustments ( see cover image ). Unfortunately, the tool doesn’t always understand our request, or isn’t always able to implement it.
Overall, WordPress’s new tool can be interesting for users who want to build a simple site without coding or CMS skills. It allows you to quickly create templates that meet your expectations and are ready to use.
