On LinkedIn, it is now possible to see how many impressions your comments under posts generated.
Comment Impressions: A New Metric to Track on LinkedIn
Good news! LinkedIn has decided to offer a new statistic to its users: comment impressions. Specifically, for each comment posted, you’ll be able to see the number of impressions it generated. This number is displayed directly below the comment, as shown in the image in the post below.
Information to keep in mind:
- Only the author of the comment can see the number of impressions generated,
- Each comment view counts as an impression, even if someone sees the comment twice. Your own views are also counted,
- Currently, comment impressions are not displayed in your overall profile or page stats,
- If you have a LinkedIn page, you can also access impressions of comments posted with that page.
The feature is currently rolling out to all LinkedIn users.
How to take advantage of this new feature?
For LinkedIn users, this new KPI is a real opportunity. By commenting on posts, you’ll be able to directly observe the impact of your messaging and understand what works best. Don’t hesitate to schedule time each day to comment on news in your industry and connect with members of your network.
Be careful, there’s no point in overusing comments. Posting for the sake of posting will work against you in the long run, because no one appreciates fake interactions, which are increasingly common on LinkedIn and easily recognizable.
Another point of vigilance: counting impressions. Indeed, since the count is not unique, a malicious user can inflate their impression figures by viewing their own comment multiple times. This will skew the figures!
