Adobe is finally bringing its flagship photo editing application, Photoshop, to smartphones in a nearly complete version adapted for mobile use.
Adobe unveiled its Photoshop mobile app on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. Smartphone users—initially iOS—will now be able to edit their photos within a platform that boasts advanced editing tools and a mobile-friendly design.

Photoshop is coming to iPhone now
The official Photoshop app is finally launched. Adobe has rolled out its photo editing software, first on iPhone and then on Android “later this year,” in a mobile version that’s more comprehensive than the Express versions of Photoshop. Users of the web and desktop versions will find the software’s most well-known features, such as layer tools, masking, and the generative fill capabilities of Adobe’s AI, Firefly (see cover image).
The new mobile app is designed to welcome a new generation of image and design enthusiasts into the world of Photoshop through an easy-to-use mobile interface.

The mobile app’s interface is designed to be completely different from the desktop versions. It has been designed to be as well-suited to smartphone use as possible, with the aim of allowing “existing Photoshop users more flexibility to edit their creations anywhere, capture images or dive into personal projects, all at their fingertips.”
The next generation of creators, as well as experienced professionals looking to create unique digital works on mobile, can now get started with Photoshop faster and easier than ever.

A free mobile app, with premium plans
The app is free, with several features available without a subscription:
- Creation of images and design using basic Photoshop tools (selections, layers, masks, etc.),
- Touch selection tools for recoloring or replacing elements,
- Advanced removal tools (healing brush),
- Generative Fill and Generative Extension via Firefly…
But many features are available through a premium subscription. One plan offers the ability to use the mobile app alongside the web app, allowing you to access designs created on your smartphone and available in the cloud directly on Photoshop’s desktop interface in its web version.
The Photoshop Mobile and Web plan offers the following features:
- Precise tools for targeted selection and adjustment,
- Advanced color corrections,
- Access to Firefly with secure commercial use,
- Compatibility with all Photoshop formats,
- Seamless integration between mobile and web experiences.
To strengthen this offering, Adobe announced that it has updated its web application, including “user interface improvements, a seamless transition between web and mobile, direct integration of the Adobe Stock library of free assets, and expanded compatibility with Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Edge.”
