LinkedIn rolls out new video features: what’s changing

LinkedIn is looking to make videos more visible in the feed with a number of feature updates. Here’s a look!

LinkedIn announced on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, the rollout of new features aimed at promoting video. The platform reports that video usage has increased by 36% in one year and aims to capitalize on this trend by improving its visibility in user search results.

Full-screen vertical videos are coming to the desktop

After introducing vertical videos on mobile last summer, LinkedIn is now extending this feature to its desktop version. It will now be possible to scroll through vertical videos directly from a computer, simply by clicking on one of them. The Videos for You tab will also be making its debut on the desktop version following its success on mobile.

We know that creating videos isn’t the easiest task, so we work hard to ensure the videos you post get noticed, get seen, and get you the success you’re looking for, LinkedIn states in its post.

Videos will also be highlighted directly in searches. Now, when you search for a specific topic, LinkedIn will offer a new space with a swipeable carousel containing relevant videos on the desired topic.

New tools to increase your audience

The professional social network wants to improve visibility and engagement on user profiles. To this end, a new profile preview will now be displayed in the full-screen video player, making it easier to access the creator’s account and discover their other videos. For the platform,  “This makes your profile discoverable for potential subscribers, collaborators, and future business partners .” The button to subscribe to the account will be more visible and accessible directly at the bottom of the video to stay informed about the content posted by the profiles you follow.

Videos will appear in longer, wider frames in the main feed to attract users’ attention. Clicking on a creator’s profile in the feed will give you an overview of their account, including their recent videos, just like on TikTok. Finally, a new stats tab has been added, allowing you to view average watch time, impressions, total watch time, and more.

Courses for creating videos and optimizing video content

LinkedIn is rounding out this series of new features with the addition of new courses on LinkedIn Learning, designed to help users improve their videos.

If you’re looking to dive deeper into (or just get started on!) your video creation on LinkedIn, we’ve launched several new nano-learning courses on the topic, available for free, the platform announced.

Among the topics covered, you will be able to learn how to create convincing video hooks, effectively improve your content or even use LinkedIn events to encourage video collaborations.
