WhatsApp arrives in Google business listings: how to add it

A WhatsApp button is starting to roll out on Google business listings. It’s currently only visible on mobile.

WhatsApp arrives in Google business listings

Google is further expanding its business listings. In addition to the address, phone number, and opening hours, Google My Business listings can now include a WhatsApp button. This will be useful for businesses that use this channel for customer service, as well as for many, often small, businesses that use WhatsApp to manage orders. Other businesses, like Partoo already does, will be able to use this button to link to an AI chatbot integrated with WhatsApp.

For users, the button opens the conversation directly on the WhatsApp app. However, the feature is not yet fully rolled out. For now, the button is only visible on mobile, and some users don’t have access to it yet.

Google My Business: How to add a WhatsApp button

Google has already posted a help page. It states that “Businesses that have claimed and verified their business listing can add a WhatsApp or SMS messaging option.”

If you want to integrate a WhatsApp button into your business profile, here are the steps to follow:

  • Go to your establishment profile,
  • Tap Edit listing , then Business information , then Contact ,
  • Tap Chat to edit the card, then click the down arrow,
  • A drop-down menu will appear, select WhatsApp,
  • In the Number field, add your WhatsApp URL,
  • Click Save.
