Adobe announces its first AI agents integrated into Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Acrobat, and Express, designed to automate tasks and assist creators in their daily work.

Adobe unveiled on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, how agentic artificial intelligence will be integrated into its flagship software. These AI agents, a customer-oriented part of which we discussed in a recent article, are presented here in the form of assistants integrated directly into applications, capable of dialoguing in natural language, automatically analyzing content and performing various automated tasks.

Gradually rolling out across Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Adobe Express, and Acrobat, while integrating with the Creative Cloud, they aim to simplify users’ work, freeing them from repetitive or complex tasks so they can focus fully on creative or strategic aspects. Here’s an overview of some of these future AI agents in the Adobe ecosystem.

Photoshop: Smart Actions and a Creative Assistant

Adobe has announced a new “Actions” panel in Photoshop, which will be presented at Adobe MAX on April 24 in London, allowing you to automatically make intelligent and contextual edits to images.

For example, this AI agent within Photoshop will be able to analyze a photo and spontaneously suggest improvements, such as making a sky more dramatic or automatically removing visual distractions. It will also be possible to use natural language to trigger more than 1,000 automated actions directly from the application. This creative agent will also be able to assist users in learning the tool and perform repetitive tasks, such as preparing content for export.

Premiere Pro: AI-powered video editing

Premiere Pro also benefits from new agent-based features with the arrival of “Media Intelligence.” This recently announced tool automatically analyzes video content, making it easier to quickly find the right clips.

We envision a world where you can ask a creative agent to help you refine your shot choices, develop rough cuts, assist with color, mix sound, and much more.

AI agents built into Premiere Pro will soon be able to understand complex dialogue and visual elements, suggesting rough cuts to help users choose the best shots or adjust colors and sound. The goal is to simplify the often tedious early stages of video editing.

Adobe Express: Intuitive, agent-assisted creation

In Adobe Express, an AI agent will be integrated as a “creative partner” throughout the design process. This will facilitate the creation of unique visual content, without relying exclusively on predefined templates. The agent will allow for rapid design creation while giving users the ability to refine each creation according to their preferences. This feature is particularly aimed at entrepreneurs, marketers, and students seeking efficiency and originality in their visual projects.

We believe agentic AI will fundamentally accelerate our vision of enabling users to go beyond templates and easily create unique content in Adobe Express.

Acrobat: towards customizable agents

Adobe Acrobat is already getting an AI assistant, “Acrobat AI Assistant,” designed to make interacting with digital documents more intuitive. Eventually, Adobe plans to integrate customizable agents into Acrobat that can fulfill various specific roles, such as research assistants, sales assistants, or even academic tutors. These will help users better understand documents and facilitate the analysis and exploration of complex information. They should also be able to “use reasoning to suggest other areas for exploration.”

Creative Cloud: Cross-integration of agentic AI

Adobe is also continuing to integrate its artificial intelligence capabilities into its Creative Cloud. Following the success of its Firefly generative AI model, Adobe anticipates a similar adoption of agentic tools across all of its creative applications. More than 75% of Photoshop users already leverage features powered by Firefly, Adobe explains. The ultimate goal is to widespread the use of agentic AI to free up creatives’ time so they can focus on more strategic or innovative aspects of their work.
