Google Trends Updated to Better Detect Local Trends

Google Trends‘ Trending Now feature has been enhanced to improve trend detection.
Google is equipping it with a revamped dashboard with a forecasting engine that updates audience patterns in real time every 10 minutes and adds depth to local trend graphs.

Google Trends is updating its Trending Now feature with three new updates to detect emerging audiences in real time and with greater granularity.

Google‘s tool vitamins this new panel with a forecasting engine, which detects 10 times more trends in 100 countries, updates every 10 minutes and delves into regions or local audiences in another 40 territories.

Current Trends will have greater granularity by region within each country.

In this last case, in the case of India, the cohort is by autonomous communities, not yet by cities, but it is thus even a good tool to hunt for possible local trending topics to enter Google Discover.

Media Audience Managers can also customize trends using the filters tab to narrow results to specific locations, specific time segments (4 hours, 24, 48 hours or 7 days), and active or historical trends by title, search volume and relevance.

“A cutting-edge trend forecasting engine powers our updated Trending Now tool. It detects 10 times more emerging trends than before and updates every 10 minutes on average, so you see the latest search trends shifting up right as they take off,” Google said in its statement.

“We’ve also redesigned Trending Now so you get the most valuable context. Now, you’ll see a breakdown of the trend, including when it emerged, how long it’s been trending , and related news articles . Also, a graph of your search interest over time. You can even compare multiple trends and easily export your data,” he added.

In this way, the trend graphs by search terms will have a lower carousel with related articles in a subsection of News.

Likewise, these search terms can be exported to the clipboard to incorporate them into the SEO structure of the newsroom, with the complement of the Explore button to detect breakouts in a broad Google Trends panel.
