Instagram adds new features to Edits: fonts, voice effects, etc.

Instagram Edits add new features

Just days after its launch, Edits has already received an update that includes new fonts and voice effects. According to Meta, the app could receive new features every week.

Edits adds 125 fonts, 15 voice effects and a new option

Available since April 22, 2025, Edits, the video editing app that’s supposed to compete with CapCut, is already integrating new features. Version 378.2.0, recently deployed by Instagram on the App Store and Google Play Store, benefits from “new fonts and voice effects,” as well as an option to simplify the editing process, Adam Mosseri announced on his Threads account.

Here are the main features added in the latest version of the application:

  • Fonts: Edits now includes 125 fonts in the Text section, to “give style to your text and reflect your personality,” according to the platform.
  • Voice Effects: 15 sound effects have also been added, such as EchoCrunchy, and Alien, to enhance voiceovers and add character to your content. These effects are available in the Voice FX section.
  • A new Apply All option: This feature allows you to apply a filter, effect, or transition to all clips in a project.

All of these options are already available and can be accessed by downloading the latest update to the app from the App Store or Google Play Store. Version 378.2.0 also fixes a few bugs, including music volume being too loud on some videos, as well as export failures “of certain timelines that include filters,” Meta said.

Edits, an app updated every week?

These new features expand an app that already has a wide range of editing features, such as automatic subtitle integration, the ability to isolate an element, and adding a green screen. Downloaded more than 7 million times in its first week of existence, according to TechCrunch, Edits is expected to continue evolving rapidly. On Threads, Adam Mosseri indicated that updates would be rolled out weekly.

For now, all options remain free, but Meta doesn’t rule out the rollout of paid features in the future. In a video posted to his personal account, Instagram’s CEO warned before Edits’ release that “some paid features could be introduced,” especially if they relied on AI. However, he clarified that the goal remained to “offer as many free features as possible.”
