How to access Google Advanced Search?

Accessing this function is not complex, since you only have to enter the main page of the search engine and then go to the section that says “advanced search.” If the connection is from a mobile device, such as Android, it will be necessary to enter google.com/advanced_search from the phone or tablet browser.

Google Advanced Search Commands: Tips for Searching Like an Expert 

Beyond what was previously explained, it is possible to place commands in the basic Google search engine to achieve advanced searches without the need to access the previous page. Next, I will share a series of tips for using basic advanced search commands. The most relevant and used are usually: 

site:[URL]

This is a Google search that allows you to restrict the results to a specific domain. This is useful when we want to find information within a specific website, analyze the content of a particular domain, or check its indexing status. This can be perfectly applied with the MD Marketing Digital site, as can be seen below: 

site:[URL] [keyword]

It is similar to the previous one, but a keyword is added that restricts the results to said term or keyword. For example, suppose you want to search for information about artificial intelligence on the website “https://www.mdmarketingdigital.com/”. You can use the advanced search command as follows: 

site:https://www.mdmarketingdigital.com/ artificial intelligence or SEO, to know these sections. 

Quotation marks (“”)

This is a technique made to carry out specific searches and consists of placing quotes around a keyword. By using them, I signal to Google that I want to obtain results where said keyword is specifically mentioned within the content of the web page.

If you are looking for information about digital marketing for e-commerce, then you must enter “e-commerce” digital marketing. 

Sign (-)

A “-” sign must be placed before a word to remove it from search results. This will be useful when you want to exclude certain terms from your final results. A clear example of this can be: “artificial intelligence – robots”, making it clear that you do not want to obtain that type of results. 

‘filetype’ command

Typically the ‘filetype’ command followed by a file type (e.g. PDF, DOC ). It is very useful to search for specific results by type of document, in case a specific search is needed. A clear example of this could be: “artificial intelligence filetype:pdf”.

Asterisk (*)

Use the asterisk to search for terms or keywords that you don’t completely remember. Google will fill the blank space with relevant words, as you can see in this example: “art * history.”

site:[URL] inurl:[keyword]

This command is actually needed to search for a specific term within a site’s URL. For example, searching for “site: https://www.enjoyminder.com/ inurl:sem” looks for results that include the word “sem” in the URLs of pages on the site with that term. 

inurl:[keyword]

This is an indication of Google requesting that the URL of the sites include a certain keyword. You can perform a search that is “Uber trips inurl:cheap”. 

intitle:[keyword]

This is a similar function to the previous one, but the search engine is asked to reveal results in which the keyword is highlighted in the main title of the site. The example is the same as in the previous case, and you can find very useful results. 

intext:[keyword]

With this command, you can search for a specific term within the body of the pages’ text. For example, when searching for “intext:advances artificial intelligence” you will get results where that key phrase appears directly in the content of the web pages.

related:[URL]

Using this method, Google identifies websites similar to the one provided in the URL. For example, searching for “related:wikipedia.org” will return results that include other websites related to Wikipedia itself.

info:[URL]

Last but not least is the info command. It allows you to search for specific information from the site provided in the URL. In the example, “info:nytimes.com” will share details about the New York Times website, such as the description, start date, and related links.
