At Canva Create, the platform unveiled several new features, including a conversational interface for generating visuals and including editing tools, as well as an AI-powered spreadsheet. Here’s a quick overview.

This Thursday, April 10, 2025, at the fourth edition of Canva Create, its annual event held this year at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, Canva unveiled Studio Suite 2.0, which it describes as its “biggest product launch” since its creation. And which should mark “the beginning of a new era of AI-assisted design,” with the introduction of several tools combining productivity and creativity. Focus on the main new features.

1. A new unified experience

To simplify teamwork, one of the announced goals of this update, Canva has completely redesigned its interface. The platform, which now has 230 million monthly active users, has launched the Studio Suite in a single design: a unified view, allowing all content and formats to be grouped  “on a single page, in a single design,” it is specified in a press release.

“Every year, our community shares millions of ideas. They’ve often expressed their desire to combine creativity and productivity in the same space,” explained Melanie Perkins, co-founder and CEO of Canva.

In other words, it’s now possible to centralize documents, presentations, and even website mockups within a single project. And to make navigating this space easier, Canva is introducing a layer-like system that allows you to access each element via a navigation bar at the bottom of the interface.

The entire campaign cycle, from planning and briefing to design and distribution, is now grouped together in a single, multi-design collaborative space, Canva says.

2. Canva Sheets, a visual spreadsheet enhanced by artificial intelligence

This is one of the key new features of this update: Canva now includes a spreadsheet with “redesigned spreadsheets to be visual, powerful, and connected to everything you do,” the press release states. Canva Sheets has two special features: in addition to being connected to other services, such as Google Analytics, it was designed “based on Studio Magique,” the AI-powered suite of tools launched in 2023. It therefore includes several advanced features, including:

  • Auto-fill: This option automatically suggests data to insert into cells, based on information already included in the document.
  • Magic Charts: This feature allows you to transform raw data “into dynamic and personalized visuals ,” Canva says. It is possible to create animated charts, infographics or even “scrollable reports . “
  • Magical analytics: The tool is capable of analyzing large volumes of data to reveal trends or findings.

For decades, spreadsheets have remained complex, rigid, and not very customizable, Canva says.

3. Canva AI, an AI-powered creative assistant

In addition to its Magic Studio suite, which offered tools such as removing unwanted elements, transforming documents, or generating backgrounds, as well as its Dream Lab image generator, the platform is unveiling Canva AI, presented as “a conversational creative partner” that brings together all of its generative tools.

Concretely, Canva AI takes the form of a conversational interface, similar to ChatGPT, allowing you to generate personalized files or designs from a text query – or using your voice. For now, this feature is only available in English.

The blank page is no longer relevant. Today, a simple guideline will allow you to unleash your creativity.

Additionally, Canva is getting a Photo Editor, which can perform “professional-quality edits” using AI. Integrated into Studio Suite 2.0, it lets you apply targeted edits, generate backgrounds that take into account lighting or composition, or delete and replace an element “with a single click ,” Canva boasts.

4. Canva Code, an AI-assisted code generator

This is a rather unexpected new development: to facilitate the creation of interactive content, which “has long required technical tools or complex alternative solutions,” the press release recalls, the graphic design platform is launching Canva Code, an AI-assisted code generator. According to the company, this tool allows “to transform static content into dynamic experiences” thanks to text queries, and can be used without having coding skills. It can be used to create landing pages, educational resources ,or presentations from A to Z.
