Instagram now lets you schedule private messages. Here’s how!
In 2025, social media interactions will take place more privately than in public spaces. And Instagram has definitely understood this! With this in mind, the platform is constantly improving its messaging features: automatic translation, pinned messages, stickers, etc. And now, it’s also possible to schedule messages!
How to schedule a message on Instagram
Want to schedule a post via Instagram? It’s easy:
- To get started, head over to the app, then click the paper airplane icon to access your DMs,
- Then, choose the relevant conversation, then write your message to be scheduled,
- When you’re done writing, tap and hold the paper airplane icon for a few moments to reveal the scheduling option,
- Choose the day and time of sending, then click Send on [selected scheduling date],
- Your message is scheduled! A note at the bottom of the conversation tells you that you have “1 message scheduled”.
Some additional information to note:
- You can schedule a message up to 1 month in advance,
- The date and time correspond to your time zone,
- Only text messages can be scheduled. DMs containing photos, videos, or GIFs cannot be scheduled.
How to Delete a Scheduled DM on Instagram
Scheduled a post but want to reverse it? Instagram has you covered! To delete a scheduled post:
- Go to the conversation in question,
- Click on the “1 scheduled message” option,
- Long click on the message to delete,
- Finally, tap Delete. A notification will confirm that the message has been deleted.
Currently, it is not possible to edit a scheduled message. If you wish to make changes, you will need to delete the message and schedule a new one.
