There are many doubts about certain SEO practices (Search Engine Optimization, which means optimization for search engines).
This optimization aims to enhance and improve the positioning of a website in organic results, mainly on Google and other search engines. However, there are some myths about this subject!
After all, Google has been constantly changing its ranking criteria. Therefore, today I brought the 5 most seen SEO myths out there. Check out!
1. Keywords are the most important thing
Keywords are important, but it’s the intention behind a set of words that makes the difference.
So the keyword needs to be present in the title of your content, in the first paragraph, in one of the subtitles and also in the conclusion.
But be careful with the excessive use of keywords, because Google may consider that you are practicing a Black Hat technique called “Keyword Stuffing” and, therefore, penalize you.

2. Lots of links required
You need internal and external links pointing to your website, but they need to be quality links.
In other words: having thousands of poor quality links doesn’t help anything, quite the opposite, it can lead to your site being penalized for SPAM.
So try to get links from sites with good authority and, preferably, from the same market niche as yours!
If a relevant website recommends you, Google understands that there is also content on your website that must be taken into consideration. It’s the same thing that happens when a successful professional recommends the work of another professional — people think: “if he trusts him, it must be really good”!

3. The bigger the content, the better
Content is important, there’s no denying that! However, there is no point in producing articles with thousands of words if they leave something to be desired.
A 500-word post can be more useful than a 1,000-word post — when that 1,000-word post uses what is called “stuffing”… Think about it!
4. Meta description helps with ranking
The meta description is not a ranking criterion used by Google, however, it should not be ignored because it plays a very important role in search results.
If written well, it catches the reader’s attention and makes them choose your website over your competitor’s website!
5. You just need to have keywords in the domain to rank on Google
In the past, Google gave a lot of relevance to the keywords in the domain name. But things have changed: this is not enough to rank on the first pages of search.
Google seeks to offer as a result the website with the best content on that subject, not just the website that contains the keywords in its domain.
Updates to Google’s algorithms mean that its ranking criteria constantly change and, as a result, some new SEO myths always end up appearing, which is why you need to be aware of these changes!
